While there are hundreds, if not thousands, of beautiful wedding gowns to chose from, you might be considering doing something a little different than a normal white wedding gown. Here are a few ideas for alternatives to the traditional wedding gown.
Vintage Gowns
Vintage gown shopping may be a little tough, but your best bet is to try searching online or to find local vintage shops that carry wedding gowns. Places to start:
The Frock
Posh Girl Vintage
Raspberry Beret
Custom tailored or made to measure gowns
Be sure you know exactly what you want if you decide to go ahead for a custom tailored gown. You can always get a gown and alter is as needed as well (if you want to add/remove sleeves, add lace or beading, etc.) There are also a number of online shops that offer unique wedding gown designs (such as renaissance style) that are made to measure and fit you just right. Check out Katrina Marie Designs and Darius Cordell for some starting points.
Non-white gown
Who said you had to wear white? We certainly didn't! No matter the color, the dress you chose will be your wedding dress. You can also have your gown altered to be accented with colors (perhaps with a sash, beading, accessories on the dress are in the colors of your wedding) in addition to gowns of different colors.
