San Diego wedding creative ideas

It's time to make your wedding special. Making different items for your wedding not only saves you money, it also gives a personal touch. You can make your invitations, table center pieces, decorations, bridesmaid gifts, flower arrangements and anything else involved with your wedding.

Here's your chance -- Email us a description of what you made, how you made it and a digital photo. Tell us how making this wedding related item made your wedding day better. The more you send the better, because for every creative item you send us, we will enter your name in a monthly contest for a gift certificate for dinner for two at one of San Diego's finest restaurants. So, email us now.

Mini Ritz Bits Favors

Here’s a simple and easy favor that you can make yourself (or get a small favor making party together to do) that’s inexpensive and tasty. Get some mini Ritz Bits peanut butter crackers and melt some chocolate, dip the Ritz Bits into the chocolate and then sprinkle them with colorful sugars or sprinkles. If you use white chocolate, the colors will stand out that much more. A variety of colored sugars are available from the craft store or local cake decorating shops such as Do It With Icing! in Clairemont for topping off your mini Ritz Bits. Gather up a few of those Ritz Bits into some cellophane wrapped off with some matching ribbon and you’re set to go! Alternatively, you can grab up some mini take out boxes or an organza bag to wrap up your little edible creations.

Use a Fun Bag

Another great idea for your favors could be to just use interesting and offbeat packaging to encase your favors (edible or otherwise). One fun idea would be to use vintage looking popcorn bags to hold candles or to set up a candy bar for guests to bring their own treats home. You can also use plain coffee bags and monogram them with stickers or stamps. Punch two holes in the tops of the bags to run some ribbon through the holes to top them off.

Custom Popcorn Bags

Businesses and companies use popcorn bags to promote their own products, services and events, so why not promote your own wedding? You can work with a company to have something designed for your wedding (perhaps a custom logo and artwork) or speak with the company doing the designs if they can create something special for your wedding – perhaps a photo with your wedding date or any other details you’d like to include. It’s a fun and unique favor idea, something good for large weddings as you’ll probably need to order 250 or more pieces depending on the company you use to do your printing for you.
