Have Your Wedding Outdoors

With San Diego's year round good weather, you have a great opportunity to have your wedding outdoors at just about any time of year. There are a number of county and city parks throughout San Diego for your wedding site.

There are a few things you'll need to do in order to have your wedding in one of these park sites. Besides choosing just the right spot, you'll need to check city or county regulations for any permit fees, maximum occupancy regulations, availability, rules and when permits are due for various locations. A few web sites will help to answer your questions about your outdoor wedding.

Port of San Diego
If you're considering getting married in a park near the Port of San Diego, you'll need to review the Parks of the Port web site. This web site has information about park fees, permits, and rules. You can also make an online request for park availability. Permit fees are based on the number of people. Park reservations are made on a first come, first served basis.

Locations for the Parks of the Port include: Embarcadero Marina North/South, Coronado Tidelands Park, Shelter Island, Harbor Island, Spanish Landing Park, Pepper Park, Chula Vista Bayside Park, Marina View Park, and Chula Vista Bayfront Park

City of San Diego and Shoreline Parks
If you're considering getting married in Balboa Park, Mission Bay Park, Presidio Park or one of the Shoreline Parks, you'll need to visit the City's web site for more information. Most locations here can accommodate smaller to mid size weddings with a few larger locations in Balboa Park.

On this site you can download the Wedding Park Permit Application (which you need to file in person). You can also view all of the available locations, see photos of the locations, get general information, maximum capacity and check the availability. The web site also suggests the best locations for weddings with their Best Sites for Weddings page. Wedding sites can be booked up to a year in advance at certain locations. Call the permit center for more information about fees and any other questions.

Shoreline Park locations include: Ellen Browning Scripps Park, Calumet Park, Cuvier Park (The Wedding Bowl), Kellogg Park, Sunset Cliffs Park at Ladera Street, Sunset Cliffs at Luscombs Point

Balboa Park locations include: Administration Courtyard Lawn, Alcazar Garden, Balboa Park Club, Casa del Prado, Casa del Prado, Golden Hill Community Park, Marston House and Garden, Marston Point, Palisades Building Recital Hall, Park Blvd. and Presidents Way Lawn, Pepper Grove, Pine Grove, Redwood Circle, Rose Garden, Spreckels Organ Pavilion, War Memorial Building, and Zoro Garden

Mission Bay Park locations include: Model Yacht Pond, Bonita Cove, Crown Point, De Anza Cove, Fiesta Island, Hospitality Point, Mariner's Point, Mission Point, Playa, Ski Beach, South Shores Park, Sunset Point, Tecolote Shores North, Vacation Isle, and Ventura Cove

Presidio Park locations include: Inspiration Point, Palm Canyon, Padre Cross, The Arbor and Mission Hills Park

County of San Diego

These wedding locations offer various settings including a country meadow, a Victorian garden, hidden knolls, gazebos, and more.

The web site includes information about each location with addresses, photos, fee information, capacities, availability, and any rules or regulations for each site.

Site locations include: Dos Picos (Ramona), El Monte (Lakeside), Fallbrook Community Center (Fallbrook), Felicita (Escondido), Flinn Springs (El Cajon), Guajome (Oceanside), Hertiage Park (Old Town), Lakeside Community Center (Lakeside), Live Oak (Fallbrook), Rancho Guajome Adobe (Vista), Rancho de Los Peñasquitos (Peñasquitos Canyon, San Diego), San Dieguito (Del Mar), Spring Valley Community Center (Spring Valley), Stelzer (Lakeside) and Heise (Julian).
