Here's a few tips on seating for your reception:
- Assign seating if you're having over 30 guests.
- Don't put together relatives who aren't terribly fond of each other or who are having some conflicts.
- Put together groups of people who know each other well: your college friends at one table, high school friends at another, aunts and uncles, work friends, etc.
- Don't bother with assigned seating, just let you guests know what table they're at. They can figure out the rest.
- Some couples are opting to not have a head table anymore and are instead sitting with the rest of their guests, in the middle of the hall or just slightly apart from the crowd. This allows your bridal party to sit with their partners or with other close friends that they know.
- If you are having children at your reception, consider having a kid's table. The kid's table can have coloring books or other activities to keep them busy during the long reception.
Gloves can be an elegant edition to your wedding dress. But what do you do with them during the ceremony? Do you wear them the whole time? Here are a few tips.
- You can slit the seam of a long glove on the underside of the ring finger to be able to have your finger available for the exchange of rings. The seam can be resewn after the ceremony.
- You can also opt to take your gloves off for the ceremony and hand them to your maid of honor. You should practice taking your gloves on and off just to be sure they are not too tight and won't be a source of entertainment during the ceremony.
- If your ring is large enough, you can also consider wearing it over your glove.
- Gloves should be worn for your formal photographs and for the recieving line and first dance.
- Take your gloves off for eating and drinking and for the rest of the party after your first dance.
